THE COMPLETE TENOR GUITAR GUIDE

Your Ultimate Resource Has Arrived — The Complete Tenor Guitar Guide

If you’ve fallen in love with the tenor guitar and are hungry to go deeper, Ledfreddie Nelson has written the book you’ve been waiting for. The Complete Tenor Guitar Guide is a rich, thorough, and expertly crafted resource that takes everything you want to know about this remarkable instrument and puts it in one place. Whether you’re a dedicated enthusiast or an experienced player ready to level up, this is the guide that belongs on your music shelf — and in your hands.

Ledfreddie Nelson brings unmatched credibility to every page. As the designer and founder of Craven Tenor Guitars of Canada, based in British Columbia, he spent years researching, building, and refining tenor guitars — crafting nearly one thousand instruments across fourteen models and selling them to a passionate community of players worldwide. His guitars even found their way to Juno Award-winning Canadian icon Shari Ulrich. When Craven Tenor Guitars closed in 2025 due to trade tariffs, Ledfreddie channelled his vast reservoir of knowledge into this comprehensive guide, ensuring nothing would be lost. The result is an extraordinary gift to the tenor guitar world.

Spanning 20 chapters across four beautifully organized parts, this guide leaves no stone unturned. Part I: Getting Started opens with essentials like Chapter 2: A Brief History of the Tenor Guitar and Chapter 3: Understanding Tuning Systems, building a rock-solid foundation for players at every level. Part II: Equipment and Setup delivers practical gold through chapters like Chapter 6: String Selection and Gauges and Chapter 9: Budget Options and Value Guitars, making sure every player — regardless of budget — can find their footing. Moving into Part III, Chapter 15: Playing Styles and Genres opens creative doors you didn’t even know existed. And in Part IV: Advanced Topics, the forward-thinking Chapter 20: The Future of Tenor Guitar is an inspiring reminder of just how bright this instrument’s journey ahead truly is.

Warm, knowledgeable, and deeply encouraging, Ledfreddie writes not as a distant expert but as a fellow enthusiast who wants every reader to thrive. This is your stepping stone, your solid footing, and your invitation to fall even deeper in love with the tenor guitar. Don’t miss it.
