February feels like an extended month due to the vibrant Chinese New Year celebrations. By the 25th of February, all artisans have resumed their work and are fully immersed in their craft. With 8 models vying for production, I take pride in offering a glimpse into the intricate process each one undergoes before becoming available for pre-order. Transparency is at the core of our business philosophy, and sharing these behind-the-scenes steps is a testament to that.
STAGE 1) CAD DESIGN at this point the drawing of the design have been completed and presented for review. All components and woods have been selected at this point.
STAGE 2) PRE PROTOTYPE at this time all woods and components are compiled and readied for construction. This includes vetting suppliers and continuity of supplies.
STAGE 3) PROTOTYPE PRODUCTION the guitar is crafted to specifications matching production criteria.
STAGE 4) PROTOTYPE INSPECTION the guitar is inspected for matching production criteria, tonal qualities, artistic attributes.
STAGE 5) PROTOTYPE APPROVAL the prototype guitar if approved moves to PREORDER and production preparations are made. Minor modifications to design criteria is implemented. If refused the process returns to PRE PROTOTYPE STAGE.
STAGE 6) AVAILABLE FOR PRE ORDER the prototype guitar meets design criteria and initial materials are prepared for the first initial production run of 10 or more. Production begins when seven individuals secure their PRE ORDER.
STAGE 7) FULL PRODUCTION the guitar model is placed in full production in quantities of 20 or less.
Limited quantities, absolutely. Craven Tenor Guitars are always hand crafted in limited quantities to maintain quality rather than mass producing and warehousing. Your investment in a Craven guitar pays for the craftsmanship and premium woods rather than factory equipment, storage and overhead that doesn’t add quality to your guitar ( only adds to the profit margin).
My personal goal is to provide premium Tenor Guitars to fellow players who see the value that comes with obsessive focus on details and quality and understand that sometimes it costs more but its worth the wait and investment in the end.
